Three swim drills that transfer to race day
Catch-up teaches you to finish the stroke before the next one starts. Fist swimming, for a length or two, reminds you that the forearm holds water, not just the hand. A few lengths of bilateral breathing keep you from being stuck on one side when the chop comes from the other.
Do them short, then swim normal. A drill set that never returns to full stroke is just a drill set. The race will not give you a fist-swimming lane.
